Before booking your own tickets please ask us where other people have booked flights to match up with them. Currently we have people flying out of Newark, Hartford, Toronto, Atlanta and DC.
We will need the specifics of your flight info. Please make sure to put them on the registration forms you will be getting after you send your check or make sure we have them prior to May 10.
If you miss the MOCA transportation:
There are very few options if you miss the MOCA Bus or Van at the airport. MOCA will not be responsible for any expense incurred by anyone who misses the MOCA transport. We will be staying at the Yellowstone Lake lodge for the next two days. While there is no public transport to Yellowstone Lodge, you can start with Karststage (www.karststage.com) to get to Mammoth. The problem will be hitching a ride from Mammoth to Yellowstone Lake since there is no public transportation between the two locations.
Best bet is to rent your own car. Unfortunately there will be little opportunity to return the car before the end of the trip since we will not be leaving park grounds until then.
We will be providing all transportation within the park and between the park and airport in both directions. If you wish to leave early, that can easily be done on 5/28, 5/29, 5/30. This is last 3 days when we are staying at Mammoth Springs. The extra cost with tip is somewhere around $200. You must make your own arrangements with the company (www.karststage.com).
Baggage and Transportation Issues
We will be traveling between locations in Passenger vans with space being a premium. The Back seat and just behind it as well spaces under the other seats will be used for luggage. Soft duffle bags will be best so we can stuff them under the seats of the vans. If you have hard suitcases expect them to be at the bottom of the luggage in the vehicles, with the soft pieces on top of them.
If you plan on driving:
Please either:
- Arrive at the Yellowstone Lake Lodge by 10:30pm on Friday, May 22, 2009. Understand that you will need to drive your vehicle between the other two locations we will be staying at during the course of the trip.
- The other choice is to leave your vehicle for the duration of the trip at Mammoth Hot Springs by 7:00pm on Friday, May 22, 2009. We will pick you up on the way down to Yellowstone Lodge. MOCA will not be responsible for the safety of your vehicle. Park it at your own risk. Suggest checking with the Park Service where the legal parking spots are.
