Conditions of Travel and Participation with Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America
Most rules apply to the health, safety, and well being of the participants. The first is that you put safety first and having fun and learning right after that. These will be the primary concerns of the Organizers in their decision making process. Please respect the authority of the Organizers. This is a non-profit organization and events are run mostly by volunteers. The Organizers are contributing their time and effort to make this event great, and in so doing assume certain responsibilities. The Organizers will take into account the needs, desires, and interests of the group, but must ultimately have the final say in making decisions for the group.
All participants must be in reasonable and sufficient health and fitness in order to safely partake in the activity in question. Please try to fairly and honestly assess your own capabilities. We recognize that it may be disappointing to drop out of an event which you had been looking forward to before it even starts. This however is a far more appealing alternative than the risk of causing injury or discomfort to yourself or others in the group. If you have any doubt as to your own capabilities, please discuss them with the Organizers.
Try to get along with everyone in a cooperative, helpful, and congenial manner. It is this sense of cooperation that distinguishes Mosaic events from events organized by a for-profit company.
No one shall be permitted to participate in an event without having first signed the written Mosaic "Release of Liability", and having paid for the event in full.
In the event that the leadership of Mosaic or the outfitter providing the service decides that an individual can no longer participate, there shall be no refund unless otherwise stated.
Mosaic is a nature-oriented group and participants stay in a variety of accommodations. Participants may expect to share beds, sleeping accommodations, tents, bathrooms, etc, with others. Many times there are no bathrooms or showers. Again, approach situations in a cooperative, selfless manner, and we able to please most of the people most of the time.
With regard to cancellations, we try our best to accommodate everyone, but in order to do so, we must stick strictly to our policy. We strongly recommend trip cancellation/interruption insurance. This can be obtained from several different carriers, and cost will depend on the cost of the trip.
While Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America is a non-profit, charitable organization, some of our operating budget relies on revenues which are built into the cost of our events. We negotiate to obtain the best available rates. The final of cost of our events, however, may be more or less than the retail cost of the services. Some of the proceeds of each trip may be treated as a donation to MOCA, and a receipt for tax purposes will be provided upon request.
