Elachee Hike - Sunday, December 18, 2005, 9:45 AM

 

Whether you were able to join us for the Chanukah and membership party Saturday night (17th), join us for a hike Sunday morning at the Elachee Nature Science CenterElachee is part of the 1400-acre Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve, a wilderness area near Gainesville. The name Elachee is derived from Cherokee, meaning "new green earth."  We'll be hiking the 4.5 mile loop and picnicking on the trail.

 

Meet & Greet Time:  9:45 AM. 

Depart Time:            10:00 AM

Return Time:            After 2:00 PM

Meeting Location:    Indian Trail Park & Ride.  Take 85N, get off at exit 101, Indian Trail.  Make a left and get in the middle lane as you go over the bridge, then take a right at the light to enter the park & ride lot. Once inside the lot, turn right at the stop sign.  We usually meet in the lower section.                               

Ability Level:            4.5 miles, easy with some moderate hills (not mountains!)

Dogs:                        Yes, but must be on leash

What to Bring:          Hiking boots recommended but not required, water, lunch, snacks, dress appropriately for the weather.

Cost:                         Free for members, nonmembers $3.00
