For those who would like to kick off the New Year in a meaningful
and exciting way, let's celebrate Chanukah in a modern/traditional
fashion! Instead of putting your lit menorah in your window,
according to tradition, so that your whole neighborhood can be
inspired by the lights, how about tying a 4-foot plastic electric
menorah to the TOP of your CAR, then taking part in a Chanukah
Parade to inspire the whole city!
(For those of you who never got to ride on a float in Mardi Gras
in New Orleans, this is your chance!)
Now that's truly being a "LIGHT" Unto the Nations.

We will meet at Congregation Beth Tefillah at 5:30 p.m.,
where volunteers will strap the menorahs to our cars.
After driving through the city, we will regroup INSIDE Perimeter
Mall in front of Dillard's for a 7:30 Grand Menorah Lighting,
featuring Congressman Wilkinson, the Consul General of Israel,
an Israeli soldier, and live entertainment.

Since we'll already be near some fine restaurants,
at 8:30 we'll walk to Garrison's for dinner. Hazel and I have
participated in (i.e. "scouted") this parade before, and when you
honk at the honkies and everyone else on the street, everyone
waves, and believe it or not, diplaying your Jewishness in public
feels GREAT! Bring your friends to ride with, as this is a great
group event. Free for members/non-members.

Meeting Time/Location:
Meet at 5:30 at Cong. Beth Tefillah/Chabad of GA
(5065 High Point Road, next to Greenfield Hebrew Academy).

Directions: Going 400 North Exit on the Glenridge Connector,
take a LEFT at the light at the end of the ramp.
Pass one light and take a LEFT at next light (Glenridge Drive).
Stay in Left Lane, and just past the first light,
turn LEFT onto High Point Road (No Light).
Go through the flashing Red Light,
pass Greenfield Hebrew Academy parking lot on left,
and then look for the synagogue driveway (Big White Building) on left.

Difficulty Level:
Your level of ability to be proud of your religion.

Dogs/Cats/Pot Bellied Chazars:
In your cars, absolutely.
At Perimeter Mall or on your dinner table (this kosher parade
does not go down Buford Highway), all we can say is,
that's not our custom.
