What a wonderful way to enjoy the new season of spring
with a Passover Wildflower hike on a beautiful 8 mile trail
beginning at Lake Winfield Scott, and from there, incorporating
three different trails: Jarrard Gap Trail, Slaughter Gap Trail
and the AT (Appalachian Trail).
Together, they form a 6 mile loop that offers an enjoyable hike
through lush forest. Hopefully the spring wildflowers will be out
for us to identify.

There will also be a side trip to the top of Blood Mountain
that will add 2 miles to the hike for a total of 8 miles.
Blood Mountain is one of the highest peaks in the state,
with views of the surrounding mountains. The climb to the top
is slightly strenuous, gaining 600' in elevation.
At the top is a stone shelter built in the 1930's and used by
backpackers hiking the AT. A short distance past the shelter
is a wide open area with views in all directions.
